It is Norkem vs Sir Pierre on Saturday

The former pupils have been supporting the first team the past four years with various donations

NORKEM Park High School’s first soccer team would like to give appreciation to their two corporate partners, Tap a Tag and Flame Diner, for their continued support and sponsorship the past season.

First team coach, Andrew Gifford, said the two sponsors joined Sanlam, who have put up R5 000 prize money for this weekend’s Kemp Classico against rival school Sir Pierre van Ryneveld High School.

“Tap a Tag, owned by Norkem old boy Douglas Gillan, supplied the team with technical training kit for the season, while André Lubbe, another old boy, supplied the team with jackets and lunches throughout the season.

“This is the fourth year that these two companies have supported the team,” said Gifford.

“Curves Glen Marais and Future Insurance Consultants have also donated R2 500 each to the host school. This sponsorship deal was initiated by Noel Thwaite, owner of FIC and ex-head boy of the school,” he added.

Gifford pointed out that the funds would be used for football development at the school.

He also invited all ex-pupils from both schools to come down and enjoy a morning of competitive football on Saturday at Norkem Park High School.

The event kicks off at 8.30am with the U/14s and the main event will start at noon.
