Local church hosts fun day walk against child abuse
Children of all ages actively participated in the festivities, carrying placards with messages that reflected their beliefs.
Christ Embassy Norkem Park Church recently hosted a family fun day, featuring a community walk aimed at promoting unity and standing against crimes affecting children.
Norkem Park SAPS and EMPD officers were present to support the initiative.

The participants expressed their faith, emphasising no battle can be fought alone without the involvement of Jesus Christ.
Sergeant Portia Mkhondo of Norkem Park SAPS spoke to the Kempton Express about the campaign’s significance.
“We wanted to join the church to campaign against crime affecting children.
“We receive numerous cases concerning child abuse at home and many instances involving troubled youth who are involved with drugs.
“Through this campaign, we aim to encourage those facing these situations to speak out and seek help.”
She highlighted the close collaboration between Norkem Park SAPS, local NGOs, and churches to combat child abuse and crime in the community.

Ward councillor Desmond McKenzie was also present at the event.
He said although he had other obligations he chose to attend the walk because of its importance to the community.
“I want to stand against child abuse because children are the future of this country, and we must keep them safe.
“All relevant organisations and the police must work hand in hand to protect the rights of children against all forms of violence,” he said.
