Denise Hattingh: Case postponed for plea deal finalisation

Hattingh will be back in court on October 16 after the Kempton Park Regional Court postponed her case this morning.

The case against murder accused, Denise Hattingh was again postponed by the Kempton Park Regional Court this morning, October 3.

Hattingh will be back in court on October 16.

During this morning’s appearance in court, Hattingh’s attorney and the State asked the court for more time to discuss the charges and finalise the plea deal.

At her last appearance in court on September 25 the court was asked for a postponement in the matter for the State to engage in talks with Hattingh’s attorney regarding a plea deal for the charges against her.

Hattingh is accused of killing 29-year-old Markus Greeff on May 15 at a property on West Street in Pomona.

Hattingh was arrested on May 16 after police issued a lookout for her in connection with Greeff’s murder the previous night.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sargent Dipuo Ditshego on May 15, police responded to the scene of a murder at a property on West Road.

“When police arrived at the property they found Greeff’s body,” said Ditshego.

She added that it was believed Greeff was strangled with a cable.

Ditshego confirmed that Sec Pros security personnel were on patrol around Brentwood Park when they saw a woman matching the description given for Hattingh.

Hattingh was arrested on May 16.

“She was apprehended and Detective Captain Richard Moloi who attended the scene of the murder drove to Brentwood Park.”

“The woman was taken to the Kempton Park Police Station where she was charged with murder.”
