Applications for public employment programme now open – CoE

The EPEP programme has so far successfully recruited over 6 900 candidates, contributing to job creation and service delivery improvement across Ekurhuleni.

The City of Ekurhuleni invites residents to apply for temporary work opportunities through the Ekurhuleni Public Employment Programme (EPEP).

Young people, particularly those between the ages of 18-35 and people living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

This opportunity is designed to enhance public employment, assist in the fight against poverty, and support community livelihoods.

According to Zweli Dlamini, City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson, the EPEP programme has so far successfully recruited over 6 900 candidates, contributing to job creation and service delivery improvement across Ekurhuleni.

“The city’s commitment to addressing youth unemployment through the EPEP reflects our dedication to fostering economic development and enhancing community welfare,” said Dlamini.

“By providing temporary employment opportunities, the city can empower the youth with much-needed work experience while contributing to a more sustainable economic future,” he added.

Dlamini said to qualify for the EPEP, applicants must meet the following criteria: be a South African citizen, be a resident of Ekurhuleni (proof of residence required) and must be unemployed.

Interested individuals are required to apply online through the City of Ekurhuleni website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.
Manual applications will not be accepted.

The closing date for applications is September 16. Successful candidates will be contracted for six consecutive months, providing them with valuable work experience and an income.
