Kempton FC suffers defeat in local league

Kempton Park FC were defeated despite conceding a goal in the dying minutes of the game.

Kempton Park FC took on Luso Africa in a league match at the Kempton Park stadium on August 24.

Luso Africa started the game by pressing Kempton, looking for an early goal.

In the opening minutes, they got rewarded when they scored a goal but it was ruled offside.

Kempton responded by launching their own attack and they nearly got on the scoreboard after a beautiful combination play just outside the Luso 18-yard area, but the shot went slightly off target.

The tempo of the game went up a notch as the midfield battle intensified.

Luso was rewarded for their efforts as they got on the score sheet by scoring a goal, taking control of the game.

After taking the lead, Luso didn’t let their foot off the gas. They kept on pressing Kempton looking for their second goal.

Kempton was absorbing the pressure and trying to launch counterattacks whenever they could.

Luso was attacking more through their speedy right winger who gave the Kempton left back hassles.

Luso went to halftime leading 1-0.

Kempton dominated the second half after the introduction of one of their key players, Zivai Verenga, who scored the equalizer through a penalty to make it 1-1.

Luso scored their second goal from the penalty spot to make it 2-1 with four minutes left.

Luso needed the win to clinch the league title with just two matches left.
