New deputy director of nursing programmes for city appointed

Her extensive public health and management background positions her as an ideal candidate to spearhead the district's health initiatives.

Rebecca Kganakga has been appointed as the deputy director for health programmes in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).

Kganakga brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, having dedicated over 34 years to the healthcare sector in the Gauteng Department of Health.

Her extensive public health and management background positions her as an ideal candidate to spearhead the district’s health initiatives.

With a proven track record of success in various health programmes, Kganakga is poised to drive significant improvements and innovations within Ekurhuleni’s health services.

At district she served as the assistant manager for Child and Youth Health Services since 2015.

Reflecting on her new role, Kganakga shared her vision and priorities.

“I am honoured to step into this role. My primary goal is to provide guidance and leadership towards achieving the district’s strategic health objectives.

“This includes ensuring the effective management of health programmes that cover a wide range of critical areas, such as maternal and child health, infectious disease control, and health education.

“I will provide professional, technical, and management support to ensure quality patient care by properly administrating these health programmes.

“I am dedicated to advocating for and promoting nursing ethos and professionalism across all our healthcare settings.

“Developing and monitoring the implementation of policies, programmes, regulations, practices, procedures, and standards is essential to the success of our health initiatives.”

Kganakga aims to support quality patient care through effective management of health programmes and is dedicated to promoting nursing professionalism.

Her responsibilities will also include developing and overseeing the implementation of relevant policies and standards, with a strong focus on efficiently managing both human and material resources.

In addition to her extensive experience, Kganakga holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health, which she obtained in 2024 from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University.

She also possesses additional qualifications and certificates in healthcare management, further bolstering her expertise.

Kganakga is committed to collaborating with other programmes and stakeholders to ensure effective healthcare service delivery to the Ekurhuleni community.
