Water police units recover three bodies between February 2 and 8

Between February 2 and February 8, divers from the South African Police Service Gauteng Water Policing and Diving Services were deployed to three separate incidents in Gauteng, which resulted in the recovery of three bodies.

On February 4, officers of Johannesburg WPDS responded to a scene of body floating in water at a golf course near to Parkview SAPS.

The body of an unknown man aged around 50 years was recovered.

A busy week for Johannesburg saw them called to Muldersdrift late on the afternoon of February 6.

SAPS Water Policing and Diving Services at one of the scenes they attend to.

The body of a male, aged around 20 years, was retrieved at a depth of approximately 3.5 metres out of a water-filled quarry.

Members of Tshwane were deployed to a scene on February 8 at a stream next to the N1 South between Sefako Makgato and Stormvoel Road.

A man had allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a branch in a tree over the river.

The body was successfully recovered with the assistance from Emergency Services.

Inquest dockets for these cases are currently under investigation.
