“This opportunity means the world to us, and we are determined to make our community proud.”

Three gifted young rugby players from Laerskool Bircheigh have been chosen to play for the esteemed Honey Badgers Rugby Club in Ireland.

They are now set to make waves on the world stage.

Between December 9 and 18, Rudi van Tonder, Max van Greuning, and Damian Havenga will compete in a rugby tournament to show off their abilities and promote their nation.

The young athletes have started a fundraising campaign to pay for their participation in the competition and fulfil their aspirations.

At a recent fundraising event they arranged at Chatoga Spur in Glen Marais, the locals supported the trio by donating to their cause.

“The journey to represent the Honey Badgers in Ireland has been an arduous one, as the boys faced rigorous training and intense competition during the selection process.

“Their selection not only brings glory to their names but also reflects the strength of the local rugby community and the passion for the sport in the Glen Marais area.”

According to Bezuidenhout, the upcoming tournament in Ireland will not only provide these talented athletes with an opportunity to showcase their skills on the global stage but will also be a stepping stone towards realizing their dreams of becoming professional rugby players.
