Manufacturing company celebrates local women

AMHT is a manufacturer of fibre optics and employs 76 active employees, 28 of which are women.

AMHT celebrated its female employees under the theme ‘Woman as a Whole’ on August 8.

The celebrations took place at the AMHT premises in Kempton Park where 32 women gathered, including vendor staff, and shared their stories as working women who are also wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and partners.

Those in attendance represented all positions in the organisation.

“Although great strides are being made to address gender equity there is much that still has to be done,” said Nokulunga Kunene.

“We are grateful for governmental interventions through Acts such as the Employment Equity Act 66 of 1998 and we are hopeful that equity can be achieved,” she said.
