Local scholars celebrate Youth Day in peaceful march

EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa said that beginning at the corner of Mooirivier Drive and James Wright Avenue, the learners marched in song to the Norkem Park Police Station.

“They were holding various placards urging society to take charge in reporting woman abuse and encouraging men to take a stand in protecting women and children,” said Thepa.

She added that the dancing and singing of protest songs saw the youth unite in honouring the heroes who fought for their liberation.
