The decomposing body of the girl was found among bushes on a farm outside Giyani in Limpopo on March 10 after she was kidnapped.

According to Limpopo SAPS communications officer, Brigadier Mojapelo, the child and her 75-year-old grandmother were asleep on March 5 when they were woken up by a knock at the door.

“The grandmother’s daughter-in-law and an unknown man were at the door.

“The daughter-in-law said she wanted to drop her two children off for ancestral rituals.

“The grandmother was surprised to see the woman with the unknown man and she denied their request.”

Mojapelo said the two then left.

“Three hours later, the elderly woman was attacked and left for dead while the unknown man took the girl and left.”

During the investigation, police managed to trace the daughter-in-law’s whereabouts to Kempton Park and she was arrested.
