Three Kempton hijackers caught in Rabie Ridge

When the vehicle and its occupants were searched, the officer found an unlicensed firearm which had its serial number filed off.

An off-duty EMPD officer intercepted and recovered a hijacked VW Polo at Rabie Ridge on January 27 at 17:00.

The vehicle was forcefully taken at Spargate on Kwartel Street, Kempton Park.

The hijacked car and its three male occupants were found in Rabie Ridge.

On January 27, shortly after 17:00, an off-duty EMPD officer intercepted and recovered a hijacked VW Polo at Rabie Ridge.

When searching the vehicle and the three men, the officer found an unlicensed firearm with its serial number filed off. It is believed that the weapon was used during the hijacking.

A foreign national (39) and two South African males aged 33 and 41 were apprehended.

On January 27, shortly after 17:00, an off-duty EMPD officer intercepted and recovered a hijacked VW Polo at Rabie Ridge.

According to information received, the incident came to the officer’s attention when the driver of the hijacked Polo alerted him of the crime and asked for assistance in tracking the vehicle using the live location tracking device installed on the driver’s phone.

When the vehicle and the occupants were searched, the officer found an unlicensed firearm which had its serial number filed off.

The trio was detained at the Rabie Ridge SAPS and charged with hijacking and possession of an illegal firearm.

They will soon appear in court.
