Ithembalethu FC hosts awards ceremony

Both teams competed in the premier league divisions of their age groups.

Ithembalethu Football Club held its annual awards ceremony on October 29 to celebrate the successful completion of another football season.

Ithembalethu FC competes in the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA).

For the 2022 season, they competed in two age groups, U12 and U13.

Both teams competed in the premier league divisions of their age groups.

The U12s and U13s finished sixth and fifth respectively.

“These results are not a true reflection of the potential of both teams, but due to some unexpected challenges they failed to produce results fitting their potential,” said the head coach for both teams, Solomon Bawa.

There were many successes to celebrate at their awards ceremony, which was attended by players, parents, coaches and directors of the sports development organisation.

Each player was awarded a participation medal to honour them for their hard work and commitment throughout the season.

There were also various individual player awards, won by Sihle Nhlabathi, Lonwabo Mehlomakhulu, Thato Mahlobo, Mpho Nchabeleng, Madumetja Mampa, Tshiamo Thobejane, Elihle Kanana, Kgotso Mathabi, Banele Khumalo, Nkanyiso Notshikila and Lindokuhle Ngubeni.

Ithembalethu as an organisation looks forward to many more years of developing sporting talent in Thembisa.

The organisation has bigger plans for the near future, some of which were shared at the ceremony by Progress Masilo, the chairperson of the organisation.
