The arrests were made on April 5.

On the same evening, a grey Toyota Fortuner was found abandoned on Old Pretoria Road next to Oakmore Station, reported hijacked on a Thembisa case.

On April 6 at around 19:00, members followed up on information of a stolen white Toyota Hilux in Benoni. On arrival, members found the vehicle and one suspect.

“After confirming the vehicle was indeed reported stolen on a Krugersdorp case, members placed the suspect under arrest,” said WO Grant Giblin, spokesperson of BFS.

“While detaining the suspect at Benoni SAPS, members of BFS were approached by a man offering them R2 000 for the release of the suspect. Upon handing over the cash to members, he was arrested for bribery,” said Giblin.

“This makes it the fifth suspect since the start of 2022 that BFS members have made arrests for bribery in their line of duties.”
