Kempton SAPS sweats for a good cause

Casual Day is an annual fund-raising and advocacy campaign for persons with disabilities.

The theme for this year’s Casual Day was Courage and Kindness, and members of the Kempton Park SAPS showed their support by adding fitness.

The members took to the Kreft Rugby Sports Grounds to take part in Casual Day Aerobics on Friday.

Proudly wearing their Casual Day stickers and dressed in their training gear, the members had fun while sweating for a good cause.

During intervals, Col Motsatsi Lesomo, head of support at the Kempton Park SAPS, took time to explain the purpose of the day and encourage officers.

“Through everything, always try to be positive and never limit yourself in your work and life,” said Lesomo.

“As we celebrate Casual Day and take the theme into consideration, we are reminded about the importance of courage and kindness. We have to fight to be bigger than Covid-19 and other challenges we are faced with.”

Kempton Park SAPS Sgt Lebo Monaioa kept the officers on their feet as she, with Lesomo, led the aerobics. The pair didn’t allow their colleagues to quit when the going got tough.

Through it all, officers were happy to have been part of raising awareness, showing support and raising funds for persons with disabilities.
