The former learner of Supero Private Combined School in Kempton Park said the show brings spunk and energy by featuring top mixes from some of the viewers' favourite DJs.

Ntsako Victor Rankapula Vukeya (24) made his career debut as host of House of Trace, a new show on Trace Africa and Trace Urban.

Vikk the Groove as he is affectionately known has many strings to his career such as being a mix and club DJ, MC and recording and performing artist, and now proudly holds the title of presenter of House of Trace.

The former learner of Supero Private Combined School in Kempton Park said the show brings spunk and energy by featuring top mixes from some of the viewers’ favourite DJs.

The show has two editions, the Amapiano edition which airs on Friday nights and the YFM YTKO edition which airs on Saturday nights.

The 24-year-old grew up in the small, densely-populated, township of Ivory Park.

“My love for music and entertainment was born on the streets of Ivory Park. I am a multifaceted person. God’s favour pulled me towards Trace TV. It was a matter of being the right person at the right time for the show’s mission and vision.

“The crew that puts the show together is any tv presenter’s dream team. They are kind, focused, patient and firm believers in banding together as a team to realise the dream. In a nutshell, the energy at Trace TV is what attracted me,” he said.

Commenting on what he considers his most significant accomplishment he said learning from his mistakes.

“That, for me, is an accolade I wear proudly because there were countless scenarios where I could’ve decided to quit. Looking back at a decade of lessons with a clear perspective is my most significant accomplishment.”

“My daughter. Her existence subconsciously moulded my goals and aspirations to fit a plan of longevity, one that can feed countless more generations.”

“I am an extroverted individual who enjoys socialising and being in the groove of things. These attributes layered a solid foundation for a career in television presenting, for me.

“I am yet to venture outside of the entertainment sphere. However, having been a DJ and event host prior to Trace TV contribute a huge role towards my anxiety on stage. One could say that my festival bookings/club tours were preparation for House of Trace and television presenting as a whole.”

What career mistake has given you the biggest lesson?

“Missing a chance to host a Shiz Niz special on etv back in 2018. The thought of disappointing all those family members and colleagues who were so proud to hear that I landed a presenting slot on television: seeing their faces when I told them I missed my flight haunts me to this day.”

What messages do you have for those who wish to walk in your shoes?

“Know your passions and follow your dream. Tie your laces, the journey is long and testing. Be prepared to work hard and make sure you watch yourself back on video or get feedback from peers. Practice and work on your craft. Developing a career as a TV presenter is achievable and people get into it in many ways.”

What message do you have for your fans?

“Thank you for believing in me and see you soon.”

What’s next?

“Honestly, the world,” says Vukeya.
