Once pristine cemetery now a mess

'I can only assume that every other cemetery under the care of Ekurhuleni has gone the same way.'

Disgusted Kempton Park Resident writes:

As a resident and taxpayer of Kempton Park/Ekurhuleni for many years, I write this with disgust and great disappointment in our parks department.

Zuurfontein Cemetery on Plane Road in Spartan, which is the final resting place for my father, my mother, my son and many acquaintances, has become an eyesore to say the least.

BUDGET: Only water and electricity tariffs will increase

This cemetery has not had any attention for months and the gardens and lawns surrounding the graves have gone to veld status. The gardens were always kept in pristine condition and planted with roses and flowers and were always admired and a pleasure to behold.

They are now non-existent and the grass in between the graves, which has not been mowed for many months, is now dead and dry and to walk there is like a trek in the veld.It is truly heart-breaking to see the abandoned and uncared for resting place of our loved ones.

I can only assume that every other cemetery under the care of Ekurhuleni has gone the same way.

Shame on you Ekurhuleni!
