School gets boost for more classrooms

The Godfirst church has donated R30 000 to the Child Academy private school.

The donation took place last Tuesday and will be used to build more classrooms for the pupils.

Currently, the school has 540 pupils, with 120 preschool children.

Isaiah Modiba, the school’s director, said his grade 6b class uses a shipping container for a classroom, while the grade 5 and 6a groups share a hall.

“Teaching pupils in a container is not a conducive environment for either the educators or the pupils. We are thankful to have a relationship with community members from Godfirst. Parents of our pupils are also supporting our project as they want the best for their children’s future,” he said.

Modiba added that they are requesting the community to donate anything that can help the school build extra classrooms.

Godfirst pastor, Nkululeko Mahlanyane, said they have been praying at the school for the past three years and decided to make a difference for the pupils.

“It is an opportunity to contribute towards the improvement of the surrounding community by helping improve the education of the children. We have a strong relationship with the schooland when they told us of their plans to add extra classes, we were happy because we knew we could help,” he said.
