Men detained for stolen beans

Two Ethopians aged between 26 and 27 were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen items on Tuesday last week.

Ivory Park police received information from members of the community about a truck which was offloading tinned beans.

The station’s communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the load of beans was worth hundreds of thousands of Rand.

“When the police arrived at the scene, they found two Ethopians with the tin beans, which were suspected to be stolen. They were questioned and asked to produce the receipts for the tinned beans. The two men failed to produce the receipts. They were arrested and detained at the Ivory Park police cells,” she said. W/O Sekgobela added that the tinned beans were seized and taken to the police station. The two will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
