Brother discovers dead bodies

Three businessmen from Somalia were found dead in their shop at Swazi Inn in Tembisa on Sunday.

According to one of the deceased’s brothers, Abdiriza Mohamed Wairah, the three were discovered by their colleague who is based in Johannesburg.

“He went there shortly after 6am to deliver goods for the shop, and that was when he discovered all three men had died during the night,” he said.

Within an hour after the discovery, the area was filled with curious onlookers. Some expressed their shock at the death of the businessmen and said they were good people who were helping the local community.

While the official cause of death is still unknown, Wairah suspects it was smoke inhalation. “I suspect that they might have died of smoke inhalation, because even though their room was burnt, their bodies were not. I saw the bodies before the police arrived. But we have to wait for the postmortem to be sure of what happened,” he said.

Ivory Park SAPS’s top-cop, Lieutenant General Allistea Subramanian, said the police have opened an inquest docket.

“We also do not know the cause of death, which is why we have opened an inquest docket into the matter,” he said.
