Reports have been received of a shootout at OR Tambo International Airport this afternoon in which at least one person was killed.
When EXPRESS spoke to Kempton Park SAPS shortly before 6pm tonight, Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesman for the station, had no details about the incident. The police spokesman on standby said he was still waiting for details.
Reports on social media indicate it could have been a hijacking.
The Intelligence Bureau SA posted eight suspects in a two Golfs were involved. At least eight shots had been fired.
A video posted on Twitter by Yusuf Abramjee shows the body of a person lying in the road. At this stage it is not clear whether it is the hijack victim or not.
