Soccer and netball festival at Norkem Park Primary School

THE annual Norkem Park Primary School Soccer and Netball Festival will be hosted on the weekend of May 19 and 20.

This festival has been running for 15 years and started in 2002 with only seven soccer and seven netball teams. It now caters for 10 soccer and 10 netball teams.

Many of the learners that attend this festival are from disadvantaged backgrounds. The mission of the festival is to give children from all backgrounds an opportunity to play in a professional and well organised environment.

Very few children get to play professional sport and this is a great opportunity for them to feel like superstars.

This year the participating schools are Norkem Park Primary, Parkrand Primary, Shangri-La Academy, Cresslawn Primary, Colin Mann Primary, Super Sport United Soccer Schools, Eastleigh Primary, Solid Foundations, Tlamatlama Primary and Bedfordview Primary.
