We can’t use hoses but the metro does

'You are not setting a good example'

MRS DE WAAL of Norkem Park writes:

How ironic that the municipality is bringing in water-shedding time when they themselves make no effort to save water.

On October 28 a municipal water truck was going down Mooifontein Road in Norkem Park, watering the plants in the middle of the road with a hosepipe.

At the Birchleigh North library centre I have often seen the municipal worker watering the plants, also with a hosepipe.

Please, if you, the Ekurhuleni municipality, insist on setting punitive measures to residents about water usage, then do so yourselves. You are not setting a good example.

Themba Gadebe, metro spokesman, replies:

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has established an internal forum where all departments have been invited to be made aware of the restrictions.

Such reports from members of the public are welcomed and appreciated.

The Water and Sanitation Department shall ensure that the matter is taken up with the relevant department.
