Five generations celebrate birth of latest family member

Mother and baby celebrated their coming home on Saturday with the whole family

An 87-year-old woman had the privilege to see the fifth generation of her family when her great, great grandson was born on September 20.

Currently residing in an old age home in Benoni, Tienie van Staden celebrated her 87th birthday a mere nine days before little Damian Ernesto Galvan was born. She enjoys looking after her grandchildren and now has five great, great grandchildren as well as 23 great grandchildren, 11 grandchildren and four children.

Her daughter, Hannie Dicks (63) who was born on September 27, 1952 enjoys knitting, crochet and sewing. She is also retired and lives in her Kempton Park home. She loves looking after all the children.

Hannie’s daughter, Sharon Ludick (43) who was born on August 27, 1973 is still working and enjoys to paint and sing. She also resides in Benoni.

Sharon gave birth to the fourth generation of girls when her daughter, Chanté Galvan (21) was born on March 12,1995. The four generations of women welcomed the first boy to the family when Chanté gave birth to

Damian at 11.05am on September 20. He weighed 3.4kg and was 53cm long.
