After the DA has won its first ward in Kempton Park some hours ago, not much progress has been made with getting more results through this afternoon.
According to votes counted so far, the DA is in a strong position in Kempton Park wards and will likely take the other seven wards as well.
At 4.20pm the ANC has claimed 10 seats (411 835 votes) and the DA seven (370 375 votes).

These two parties are still running head to head with the ANC sitting at 45.01% of the vote and the DA at 40.48%. The EFF at 9.18% has collected 84 013 votes.
With only ward 16’s results announced, the other seven Kempton wards are still outstanding. In these wards results from one or two voting stations have not been finalised yet.
At the moment the DA sits well above its voting percentage of 30.29% in 2011, having won 40.48% of the vote so far. The ANC has dropped from 61.63% to 45.01% but it is still early days with only 17 of the 112 wards’ results in.
