DA and ANC close in Ekurhuleni as results trickle in

The DA is leading in Kempton Park wards

JUST after 8am this morning election results showed the DA had secured almost 46% of the votes in Ekurhuleni.

The ANC sat on 41% and the EFF on almost 8%. It must be noted that many results are still outstanding.

In the 2011 elections the ANC got 62.17% of the votes, followed by the DA with 30.13%.

In six of Kempton Park’s eight wards the DA has so far won the majority vote.

Ward 13 (Part of Phomolong, Birch Acres, Chloorkop) – No results yet

Ward 15 (Van Riecbeeck Park, Birchleigh, Glen Marais); Gideon van Zyl (Democratic Alliance): 90.55%

Ward 16 (Kempton Park Central, Kempton Park Extensions 2-4, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Allen Grove, part of Glen Marais); Jaco Terblanche: 84.22%

Ward 17 (Spartan Extension 1, Spartan, Croydon, Cresslawn, Isando, Jet Park, Bartlett, Bardene, Impala Park, Rhodesfield) – No results yet

Ward 23 (Bonaero Park, Brentwood Park, Atlasville); André du Plessis (Democratic Alliance): 85.51

Ward 25 (Kempton Park NU, Pomona ext 3, Kempton Park AH, Serengeti, Marister AH, Benoni AH, Putfontein, Lilyvale AH, Sesfontein, Petit, Bapsfontein, Bronkhorstpruit AH); Pieter Henning (Democratic Alliance): 80%

Ward 91 (Norkem Park, Birchleich North, Esselen Park Extension 1, Witfontein): Johann Jordaan (Democratic Alliance): 77%

Ward 104 (Kempton Park West, Terenure, part of Van Riecbeeck Park, part of Birch Acres, Edleen, Esther Park): Tracey Butler (Democratic Alliance): 58:
