EMPD and Kempton Police arrest suspects for theft

The SAPS linked the suspects to other business robberies around Kempton Park.

EMPD officers working in Kempton Park and the SAPS arrested three suspects for theft on June 2.

According to information received, response officers from a local security firm were patrolling in Birchleigh North when they noticed the occupant in a white Toyota Corolla grab a phone from a person walking on Mooifontein Road near a filling station.

The security firm acted immediately.

A chase ensued and they cornered the car on Monument Road in Kempton Park with the help of the EMPD and SAPS officers.

When they searched the vehicle, the officers found more than five cellphones.

The vehicle also had different number plates at the front and rear.

The SAPS linked the suspects to other business robberies around Kempton Park.

Pending further investigation, the trio were detained at the Kempton Park Police Station and appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

No outcome on their appearance was available at the time of publication.
