EMPD media liaison officer Marie Mashishi said the intervention addressed the high number of learners hurt by vehicles near schools.

“During the presentations, officers engaged the scholars on road safety, bullying, child neglect and rape,” said Mashishi.

She added that the EMPD, with other stakeholders such as the SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Board, Active Education, Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Twin Plug, the Youth Desk, and Community Safety, educated the scholars by sharing their knowledge on various social skills to use to improve their behaviour when using roads.
