Born and raised in Thembisa, he attended Rebonwe Primary School and later went to Tembisa High School.

He went on to obtain his paramedic certification at Rescue-Life Africa College.

DJ Pedabotic started his career as a DJ in 2004 when he was still in high school.

“I always loved music and I think it’s in my DNA,” he said.

He added that his mother is a professional lead singer for a church choir and his dad had a huge collection of music that varied from jazz to classical and African pop, kwaito and disco.

“My parents’ musical backgrounds played a huge role in my understanding of music on deeper level and also in building what I am today,” he said.

He added that he is famously known for hip-hop but he would like to believe that he is a versatile DJ, an all-rounder.

“I started my deejaying career playing house music and then later, in 2017, I developed a skill in hip-hop for which my brand is now well known today,” he said.

He said that after years of being a house DJ he wanted to learn more in music and since he also loved hip-hop, he decided to explore the genre.

“I don’t regret that decision because the brand has grown tremendously,” said DJ Pedabotic.

He said that he was inspired by the happiness that people get every time they listen to music.

“I was fascinated by the technology itself and seeing what the music I made did to people. I wanted to have that power to move people and make them happy, too” he said.

According to DJ Pedabotic, he was a curious child who always wanted to know more about things around him.

“I always fiddled around with my uncles’ sound system when no-one was around. I then started following all my favorite DJs around and watched what they did on decks. As soon as I got home, I would practice what I saw until I got it right,” he said.

He is currently working on an EP and also working with a number of Thembisa artists.

At the end of May he hopes to release a single called Ilife Emnandi.

He worked on the track with The Good Kid and it features Killa Brain, Mr Gravetown and Snazzy B.

DJ Pedabotic said that the entertainment industry is a vast one.

He said that one thing he loves about deejaying is that artists hold the power to evoke feelings in people and take them on spiritual journey.

He has played and showcased his deejaying skills in all nine provinces as well as in Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho.

DJ Pedabotic also won the Tembisa Easter DJ Festival competition in 2015.

He explained that he always looked up to Shimza,

“Besides his technical skills, his achievements are a reminder that your dreams are valid. All you got to do is put in the work and focus, and you can achieve whatever you desire.

He added that on his journey of being a DJ there are different challenges that he had to face.

“Being a hip-hop DJ is a challenge because house music always dominated the scene so when you have to switch genres in the middle of a party you have a lot of pressure to impress them and still keep them on the dance floor” he said.

In future he sees his brand expanding. He aslo doesn’t want to be known as only a DJ but for several other things as well.
