Two suspects arrested in Kaalfontein for robbery

Investigations are ongoing.

Two men were arrested in Kaalfontein following a police follow-up from Midrand on April 21.

According to Captain Ben Matimulane, the spokesperson for Ivory Park SAPS, the two were part of a three-man gang that stopped a delivery truck at President Park, Midrand on the morning of April 21.

The men instructed the driver to drive to Kaalfontein, where they took laptops, batteries, and printers from the truck.

“They left the victim in Midrand, where he met local police officers who initiated a follow-up investigation.

“The officers caught the suspects in Kaalfontein, recovered the vehicle used in the robbery, a firearm and a toy gun.

“The recovered firearm, a Z88 with 10 rounds of live ammunition, had its serial number removed.

“They arrested the two suspects for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of a vehicle jamming device.

“The search for the third suspect and the vehicle used will form part of the further investigations,” said Matumulane.

“All the information and evidence at our disposal will be scrutinised to help us understand what kind of people are we dealing with and whether they may have committed similar or other crimes somewhere.

“We do this for us to build a solid case,” said Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS.

The two men will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
