BFS nab suspects for cables and drugs in Ekurhuleni

In separate incidents, three arrests were made for the possession of drugs in Extensions 6 and 15 in Ivory Park.

Officers from the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested six suspects and recovered three vehicles between March 2 and 7.

On March 3, officers pulled over a blue Lexus on the R25, near Erwat.

The driver was arrested when unit members found eight bags of dagga weighing about 15kg.

In separate incidents, three arrests were made for the possession of drugs in Extensions 6 and 15 in Ivory Park.

Crystal meth, Mandrax and nyaope (heroin) were recovered.

On the same day, officers patrolling the N12 near the Etwatwa off-ramp pulled over a Hyundai H100 transporting firewood.

The driver was arrested when BFS members found copper cables, suspected to be stolen, underneath the wood.

The cables weighed about 280kg.

One suspect wanted on a Lyttelton case of common robbery was arrested on Esselen Street, Daveyton.

R2 300 in cash was recovered.

In further policing, three abandoned motor vehicles were recovered – a white Toyota Corolla reported stolen on a Benoni case, a white Mitsubishi Fuso truck on Spartan Road, Kempton Park, reported hijacked on a Rustenburg case, and a silver Ford Ranger at Difateng section, Thembisa, reported hijacked on a Bedfordview case.

Investigation into all cases continues, and those arrested will appear in local magistrate’s courts on various charges.
