Taxi boss shot and killed in Chloorkop

An undisclosed and large amount of cash was found in the car.

The police received a report of gunfire in Chloorkop on Zuurfontein Road, just 500m from the district offices, at about 10:30 on February 21.

According to Constable Patricia Mgijima, a spokesperson for the Tembisa police, it was discovered that the victim, a 58-year-old man driving a charcoal Kia Seltos, was a taxi owner and the deputy chairperson of the Kempton Park Taxi Association.

The man was shot and killed.

An eyewitness claims that a white Toyota Corolla sped off after blocking the deceased’s vehicle.

“An eyewitness claims a white Toyota Corolla sped off after blocking the deceased’s vehicle at the intersection of Zuurfontein and Kliprivier roads in Chloorkop, while a white VW Amarok bakkie with an ND registration number and three occupants began firing shots in the direction of the deceased.

“Eleven spent rifle cartridges and 10 pistol cartridges were found on the scene.

“The deceased was in possession of his licensed pistol, an M Star 45, with its serial numbers intact. An undisclosed and large amount of cash was found in the car and handed to the family of the deceased,” said Mgijima.
