Fallen EMPD officers remembered

The executive mayor mentioned that the unveiling was a step closer to ensuring that this magnificent structure will form part of the annual calendar of events.

A memorial wall, honouring those who paid the highest price for their country while performing their duties, was unveiled by Executive Mayor Tania Campbell on February 24.

The unveiling of the wall was attended by the MMC of Community Safety K Rasilingwane, oversight committee members, colleagues and chiefs of police from different metros.

Municipal police commissioner IJ Mapiyeye, the Executive Mayor for the City of Ekurhuleni, Ald Tania Campbell and mayoral committee (MMC) of community safety, K Rasilingwane during the unveiling.

“The wall of remembrance was created as a means to give recognition to EMPD officers and the plight of their loved ones who must cope with the emotional and practical consequences of these tragic events,” said the municipal police commissioner, IJ Mapiyeye.

The mayor mentioned that the unveiling was a step closer to ensuring that this magnificent structure will form part of the annual calendar of events annually.

“Our goal was to host wreath-laying ceremonies and offer family members and colleagues the opportunity to reflect on and honour our fallen heroes. Blessed are the peacemakers who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
