BFS arrest three during weekend operations near Clayville

SAPS members patrolled the area and at around 14:30 the vehicle was spotted on Thabana Ntlenyana Street.

Between Friday and Sunday, officers from the Benoni Flying Squad arrested three suspects and recovered four motor vehicles and one firearm.

On Sunday officers received information of suspects travelling in a grey Audi A3 around Clayville who had an unlicensed firearm in their possession.

Hidden inside a rear panel, officers found a Bodyguard 380 pistol, with the serial numbers filed off and five live rounds of ammunition.

SAPS members who patrolled the area spotted the vehicle around 14:30 in Thabana Ntlenyana Street.

Three suspects were in the vehicle and after a thorough search, the officers found a Bodyguard 380 pistol with the serial numbers filed off and five live rounds of ammunition hidden inside a rear panel.

The three suspects were arrested and detained at Ivory Park SAPS.

In further policing, four abandoned hijacked vehicles were recovered.

These included a white Mitsubishi truck at Pretoria Road, Kempton Park reported on an Olifantsfontein case, a silver Opel Corsa Utility at Ivory Park Ext 15, reported on a Thembisa case, a white Volkswagen Crafter on N12 Jet Park off-ramp reported on a Thembisa case and a white Mercedes at Emphilweni Section, Thembisa reported on a Midrand case.

The suspects aged between appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
