Between December 2 and December 8 rapid response service providers comprising the Flying Squad, K9 units and highway patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 134 suspects.

Additionally, the units recovered 60 motor vehicles and six firearms.
Officers participated in various operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.
This led to 49 arrests for crimes including murder, assault GBH, rape, shoplifting, theft, possession of stolen property, tampering with essential infrastructure, robbery, house burglary, domestic violence, counterfeit money, hijacking and contravention of court orders.
Sixty hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with eight arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Six unlicensed firearms were recovered, accompanying nine more arrests.

In further policing operations, 68 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.
Heroine, dagga, Mandrax, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine were confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigations into all cases will continue.
The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
