The founder, Shatadi Makopo, says: “The first of our pride events was held in Thembisa last year and it was such a success that we had to host it again.

“We look forward to now hosting the second annual pride, The Turn Up event, which is the place to be for fashion, lifestyle, and entertainment.

“For entertainment, we have a strong line-up, including Coachella Randy, Kagiso Mogola and Musa Keys.

Our events combine networking with a fun atmosphere, which is why we call it The Turn Up.

“Typically, pride events consist of a parade or march, followed by a celebration.

“We do it all at once while preserving the spirit of Pride, which is to celebrate queerness and to spread knowledge of being queer to unite the community.

“We expand our local economy by providing local businesses with opportunities across a variety of industries.

“The Ark 1632, a recently opened establishment where the event will take place, has been a huge assistance to us. I urge people to attend the event and make this location their new favourite,” said Makopo.
