Tembisa South SAPS members were alerted to the crime when the suspect ran into the police station.

Constable Bridget Mavuso, the Tembisa South SAPS communication officer, said the suspect claimed that whenever he walked down the street in the neighbourhood then children would often make fun of him.

“He became enraged and smacked one of the children with an open hand. The child’s mother tried to defend her daughter and approached the suspect with a hammer in his hand.

It is believed that her intention was to assault the suspect. The suspect overpowered the mother and hit her with the hammer on the head causing fatal injuries.
