According to Sergeant Barbara-Anne Ferreira, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the victim’s body was not covered and no identification was found on or near the body.

“The body was discovered by a passerby and police officers were called to the scene.

“Police were approached by the complainant who informed them he was walking from Esselen Park to his home when he saw the woman’s body lying on the ground face down,” said Ferreira.

“The woman’s body had a blood stain on her left eye and stab wounds on her face. Paramedics declared the woman dead on the scene and the body was taken to Germiston Pathology Services.”

Ferreira added that the woman’s body was already in a state of decomposition.

“The victim was found wearing a dress with no shoes. It is estimated that she might have died three days before her body was found,” Ferreira said.

“Although not confirmed yet, her age is estimated between 35 and 40.

“This is not the first female body to be found around the area.

“It is becoming a problem as other female bodies have also been found in that open veld which is a cause for concern.”
