Korean Japan dancers graced the space for 67 minutes of Mandela day.

According to the head of programme and social development, Gugulethu Sibuyane, Mayibuye Youth Activism Movement received donations from companies from the neighbourhood in order to feed the children in the township.

“We planned to host around 300 children and elderly people from around our community, so we asked for donations to help make the event successful.

“To our fortune we were blessed to get donations from Ubet Mamashes and Fruit and Veg upon what we had gathered ourselves as an organisation,” said Sibuyane.

Among the performers present on the day were Born to Be Amazing dancers, a Korean Japan dance group, Angels Cheerleaders and Bv Bacadi Pantsula dancers.

Bv Barcardi Pantsula dancers stomped the yard in celebration of Mandela Day at Mayibuye Park.

“We wanted to not only celebrate 67 minutes of Mandela Day, but to have subsequent events that deal with the pervasive socio-economic disadvantages that are apparent within our community.

“In this we believe that it will help to improve the dire challenges of our community,” said Sibuyane.
