Kempton FC defeated by Bucs

At the ninetieth minute Kempton did not manage to equalize against the Bucs earning them three points at the end of the game.

The U19 Kempton Park Football Club A team took on Orlando Pirates in the second leg of the Eastern Colts Golden Stream League on July 10 in Kempton.

Kempton lost 5-4, leaving them one point adrift of the second position.

Two penalties were conceded by Orlando Pirates in the first half when Reatlegile Makgoba, who played as a defending midfielder, converted.

Pirates came back and equalised with a goal and a penalty courtesy of the number 15 midfielder.

Kempton was awarded a free kick and the shot by Thando Mtimkhulu was saved by the keeper, only for Kempton’s right-wing Simphiwe Nkosi to pounce, scoring from the rebound.

Kempton led 3-2 at halftime.

In the second half, Pirates equalised from a corner kick.

Pirates scored their fourth goal following a miscommunication between Kempton’s goalkeeper Ronny Sithole and midfielder Thando Mtimkhulu.

Pirates scored their fifth goal from a beautiful ball from the left flank, with Kempton’s Simphiwe Nkosi responding to endure the game was a thriller.

The head coach of Kempton Park, Mvuyisi Vikwa, was not disappointed with the boys’ performance but rather opportunistic with the style of play adopted by the boys.

He said the boys had to dig deep in preparing for the match and although they lost, the attitude and vigour of the boys showed the great potential of a team worthy of dominating the league.

“We must understand that the team consists of mostly high school boys and playing against these big teams such as Pirates and Luso Africa FC is a very big ask from us as a club.

“However, the way they played was satisfactory although they made a couple of mistakes where Pirates took advantage of the open spaces we created,” said Vikwa.

“We are looking forward to the next game.”

Kempton sits in the fourth spot with Orlando Pirates at the top of the log with 22 points.
