Ekurhuleni crime operation recovers stolen trucks and more

One of the two trucks was linked to a Kempton Park hijacking case in July.

Members of Ekurhuleni Crime Intelligence recovered two trucks and made an arrest on July 5 following information received.

The recovery was made at a smallholding on Dillan Street in Spring on July 5.

“The operation was led by a Delmas captain and a trailer was also recovered.

“One of the two trucks was linked to a Kempton Park hijacking case in July, while another one was a Sunnyside case from January,” said Captain Neldah Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni District communication officer.

Sekgobela said during further investigations, copper was found in the trailer of one of the trucks and was linked to a Springs hijacking from June.

She said during separate operations a house in Emangweni was searched and members recovered 139mm live ammunition.

“Investigations led members, Trio Task team, JMPD, Gauteng Traffic and 87 Future Security to Emangweni Section in Thembisa, where a man was arrested and ammunition, Mandrax and Cat were recovered,” said Sekgobela.

The captain said the suspect was arrested for possession of ammunition and drugs.

Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole commended the teams for their investigations.
