Ekurhuleni joint force bring five suspects to book

Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence Trio task Team managed to take down five suspects in an intelligence-driven operation.

The acting district commissioner of the Ekurhuleni district welcomed the arrest of five suspects on June 16 allegedly involved in several robberies.

Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson Captain Ben Mtimulane said the suspects may be responsible for robberies that targeted a pharmacy in Chloorkop.

“The suspects were arrested as a result of joint efforts by the Ekurhuleni District’s Crime Intelligence Trio Task Team and the Bedfordview SAPS,” said Matimulane.

“The group will face charges ranging from illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition to possession of stolen property belonging to the pharmacy,” said Matimulane.

He added that the suspects are in police custody pending their appearance in court.

The district commissioner Brigadier Lebogang Machakela commended the intelligence-led approach.
