Ten year sentence for tampering with essential infrastructure

The pair was sentenced at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on May 26 and were both declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Maenetsa Tswene (29) and Ludidi Thulani (28) were each sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for tampering with essential infrastructure.

The pair were sentenced at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on May 26 and were both declared unfit to possess a firearm.

“The complainant, a security officer, was performing his duties around Kempton Park Train Station on August 11, 2020,” said Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, spokesperson at Kempton Park SAPS.

“While performing his duties, he noticed Maenetsa and Ludidi busy removing cables from the railway lines. Police were summoned to the scene and both were arrested.”

Ditshego said Detective Sergeant Mabilo Senyolo investigated the case until the two accused were sentenced.

“Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu, station commander at Kempton Park SAPS, applauded the good work done jointly by the security and SAPS in ensuring that justice is served.”
