BFS seizes 248 packets of dagga in Thembisa

From May 13 to May 15, Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members arrested three suspects and recovered five motor vehicles.

The Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested two suspects on charges of dealing in and possession of drugs at Esangweni and Entshonalanga sections, Thembisa, on May 13.

According to BFS spokesperson, W/O Grant Giblin, the suspect arrested at Esangweni Section was caught next to the taxi rank, in possession of 248 small ziplock packets of dagga weighing in excess of 1.7kg.

“The suspect was arrested after members received a tip-off. A charge of bribery was added after his arrest when he allegedly offered members R200 for his release. CAT was confiscated in the second incident at Entshonalanga Section,” said Giblin.

BFS members also received information on May 15 of a suspect wanted for theft on a Mondeor case. According to Giblin, the information received was that the suspect was travelling in a red Kia Picanto.

“The suspect and his vehicle were traced to a shopping center in King Fisher Avenue, Sunward Park, where he was immediately arrested,” said Giblin.

“In our recent hijacked vehicle recoveries, members recovered a white Toyota Hilux in Princess Avenue, Benoni, a white Nissan NP200 at Pilates Crescent, Impala Park, a Mahindra Genio at corner Commissioner Street and

Brakpan Road, Boksburg East, all three these vehicles were reported on Boksburg cases.

“A white Audi A3 at 17th Avenue, Alexandra reported on a Sandringham case and a white Toyota Quantum at Modderfontein Road, Rabie Ridge reported on a Klerksdorp case. Investigation continues in all cases,” said Giblin.
