Man detained for alleged possession of stained money
Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson Cpt. Ben Matimulane said that the money, which is a total of twenty-eight thousand rands, were inked. When the detectives asked the suspect the origins of the money, he failed to answer the question.
The Ivory Park SAPS arrested a 34-year-old man on April 21 for possession of stolen property.

The suspect was apprehended on Thursday night, according to Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson Capt Ben Matimulane.
“The detectives learned from informants and their network that there was a foreign national in possession of a large amount of stolen money.”
According to Matimulane, when the detectives arrived, they introduced themselves to the suspect and explained the reason for their visit.
He claimed that the money, totalling R28 000, was inked and that when the detectives questioned the suspect about the money’s origins, he refused to answer.

The captain said, “The current suspicions about where the money could have been obtained are either during a CIT incident or an ATM bombing, and the suspect’s silence as to the origin of the money lends credence to either of the two possibilities.”
The suspect has been detained in the Ivory Park cells and was set to appear in court on April 25, where he faced charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, appreciates the informants responsible for tipping off the police about this suspect.
“We need plenty of these tip-offs to make the Ivory Park police precinct safer for the law-abiding people and uncomfortable for the criminal elements,” said Ngcobo.
