EMPD breaks down illegally erected structures

“Structures were demolished after receiving these complaints,” said EMPD spokesperson, Thabiso Makgato.

The EMPD Land Invasion Unit removed unoccupied, illegally erected structures on municipal land on April 10.

Thabiso Makgato, the spokesperson for EMPD, stated they had received complaints from the residents living in Makhulong Section about structures being built on the land.

“We received complaints when people started erecting these structures on Sunday morning.

“The occupants broke the law by building these structures with no water or electricity. Structures were demolished after receiving complaints.

“If new structures are erected, they will also be demolished. No house or structures may be erected without an approved housing plan or without approval from the City of Ekurhuleni.”

Shacks are demolished in Thembisa by the EMPD.
