Suspected hijacker found dead near a Chloorkop open field

The suspect was discovered dead in the open field on Solvey Street in Chloorkop.

Rabie Ridge SAPS confirmed a suspect died after attempting a hijacking and was found near a Chloorkop open field on April 12.

“Two more suspects are believed to have fled the area. The body was found after it was reported to the police,” said Sgt Dipolelo Moremi, Rabie Ridge SAPS communications officer.

The man was declared on the scene by paramedics.

“According to reports, the man was involved in a car hijacking attempt. The victim of an attempted carjacking arrived at the scene and identified the deceased as the suspect who attempted to hijack her vehicle on Allendale

Road near the Chloorkop traffic light.

“The suspects attempted to force her out of the vehicle, but she refused. They tried until she gave up and was thrown out of her car. Other motorists became aware of the situation.

“The other two suspects dashed into their car and fled. The third tried to get away in the woman’s car, but he was unable to start the vehicle. When he fled, the community pursued him.

“He was later discovered with an open wound on his head and a broken arm. He had been assaulted,” said Moremi.
