“The station received the letter commending the bravery of Maifo who was off duty when he placed himself on duty on May 15 this year at about 14:30 when he noticed a hijacking on Pretoria Road next to P91 in Kempton Park,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, corporate communications officer at Kempton Park SAPS.”

The officer stopped his private car and managed to arrest one of the suspects. The company thanked the officer and stated ‘he is the embodiment of ideal police and pride to the community’.

“Policing is challenging. The warrant officer does not see this as a career but a calling as he remains unwavering and selflessly continues to honour his badge and community. The management is really proud of Maifo’s calibre,” said Mtshali.
