Job scam – beware

CoE does not request applicants to pay in exchange for a job interview.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) warned the public to be aware of job scam messages being sent to the public through social media.

CoE reminded residents its job application process is not conducted through social media platforms or social media messaging.

The public is urged to note the following to avoid being scammed:
• All positions are advertised on the CoE website (www.ekurhuleni.gov.za/residents/careers)
• CoE does not request applicants to pay in exchange for a job interview.
• CoE email addresses are formatted as name.surname@ekurhuleni.gov.za
• CoE has official office telephone numbers which start with 011 999 xxxx.
• Any communication and adverts of jobs will carry the City of Ekurhuleni logo and not Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
• CoE does not request any payment to apply for a position.
• CoE only communicates through the approved email and telephonic communications, including face-to-face interviews.

“Our positions are strictly advertised on our website where both permanent, temporary and fixed-term vacancies are advertised,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
