Local author releases a book to help readers focus

Praise has released his road map to assist readers to find their purpose.

Local author Praise Sfundo Mlaba (21) recently launched his first book titled The triumph of a 21-year-old to spread positivity. For the most part, this year has been marked by poor news.

Although watching and reading the news has been a depressing experience for years, there seems to be more confusion and division than ever before. In today’s world, we actively seek out meaningful tools that will inspire and empower us to change and encourage others to follow in our footsteps.

Mlaba’s book is considered to be one of those tools that will help the reader improve their life. Mlaba was raised by his grandmother in the rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal. He lived in a mud house, which made life difficult for them because when it rained, the entire rainwater would fill the house.

When it rained at night, it was even more difficult because they had to get up in the middle of the night to get water out of the window. Sfundo lost his grandmother, who provided financial help for the family when he was a child, and his mother was also unemployed. Faced with mounting struggles of growing up, unemployment, and poverty, he attempted suicide.

“Let me start by saying I have always been a church person, so whenever I went to church and listened to the preacher I always carried a pen with and I would write notes whenever the pastor was preaching. I did not know that I was going to be an author. I thought these were just notes for myself to remind myself of the teachings and I thought that it is something that I could share with my friends and family when I teach them about the scriptures. I also started preaching.

“As I got deeper into preaching and motivating the youth, something came to mind and I asked myself what If I can compile a book and write the teachings down? “When meeting Monde Mjila, he encouraged me to attend one of his book writing workshops. “I started combining my notes with his guidance and I ended up writing a book. I started with the manuscript and he helped throughout the process. “I am mostly inspired by the events that happened in my life. This is what I write about mostly. “Many readers of the book contacted me to say my story gives hope and encouragement.”
